"As someone who’s been teaching fitness since 1983 (yes, I’m that old), I’ve instructed classes in fitness studios, gyms, luxury resorts (even in Turkey—THE COUNTRY), and now, in the great outdoors. Trust me, nothing compares to exercising in the open air! From the blistering summers of Phoenix to the cold winters of Denver, the sunny skies of Southern California to the clean air of Sherwood, OR, I’ve seen it all.
At Fit 2B Fit, we believe the best workouts happen outdoors—no matter the season. Whether you're layering up for the cold or seeking shade from the summer heat, it's easy to dress for the elements. And let’s be honest, there’s something magical about working out in fresh air!
Recently, I chatted with someone curious about our outdoor classes. When I mentioned that we don’t do the usual running, jumping, lunging, or dancing like nobody’s watching stuff, they were a little taken aback. “How can you possibly get a good workout without those moves?” they asked. Well, we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeve!
We focus on strength training with dumbbells, bands, tubes, and balls, plus bodyweight exercises like push-ups and dips. For light cardio, we go walking up hills, incorporate resistance walking, and flow exercises to get your heart pumping— even battling ropes that don't actually battle back. And everything is designed to be gentle on those precious joints.
Our classes are perfect for those of you who may feel a little “out of shape” (we see you!) or anyone looking to improve fitness without feeling like you’re trying to run a marathon. We offer women-only sessions and, soon, co-ed classes too (so grab your buddies!). Unless there’s a crazy weather situation, we’ll be outside—rain or shine (we even have cover if the sky’s feeling moody).
In 2020, when gyms closed their doors, we took our workouts outside. Even when it was safe to go back indoors, people chose to stay outdoors. Once you experience it, you’ll get it. You really don’t know what you’re missing until you’re sweating under the sun with a breeze in your hair, or bundled up because there's a chill in the air. Come see for yourself!
